Join us for our next Meet the Artist with Manu Jara and discover the history of chocolate, from its origins and arrival in Europe to its connection with Seville. An experience to learn, taste and share in an intimate encounter with one of Seville’s leading pastry chefs.
With Manu Jara as your guide, you’ll travel to the New World to explore the origins of cacao and discover how it arrived in Europe via the Guadalquivir River, gradually becoming one of gastronomy’s greatest pleasures. You’ll also discover the earliest drinking chocolate recipes and learn how it was prepared centuries ago.
What to expect:
- A journey through the history of cacao and its arrival in Europe.
- Stories and fascinating facts about Seville and the Guadalquivir River’s role in its arrival.
- The preparation of a drinking chocolate inspired by the earliest documented recipes from the 16th century.
- A tasting of the Torrisant, one of Manu Jara’s creations, combining torrija (Spanish-style French toast) and croissant.
- An intimate encounter where you can meet Manu, ask him questions and discover his approach to pastry-making.
